Cleveland Neighborhood Committees

Social Committee

The Social Committee is made up of Cleveland Residents how help put on the Celebration in the Park, the Neighborhood Garage Sale and other activities. The Committee also is responsible for the Cleveland Connection, the monthly newsletter sent to all members of the Cleveland Community. Additionally, the Social Committee is responsible for upkeep of the website.

Meetings are at 6:30 pm, on the First Monday of the month. In the event of a holiday, the meeting may be rescheduled. Check the Complete Calendar for more information on meetings times and place.

Crime and Safety

The Crime and Safety Committee focuses on issues related to the safety and well-being of Cleveland Residents. Some of the work of the Committee is to address the perceptions of crime versus the reality. The Committee also nurtures relationships between the residents and the Police Department and make residents aware of resources available to provide home security assessments. Additionally, the Committee oversees a Litter Patrol/Snow Patrol that matches Cleveland Neighborhood youth with Cleveland Neighborhood seniors to provide Lawn Services and Snow Removal. The youth also meet weekly during the summer months to pick up litter throughout the Cleveland Neighborhood.

Economic Development

Economic Development Committee is dedicated to improving and building the economic environment of not only the Cleveland Neighborhood but also the North Minneapolis community as a whole. We evaluate, provide funding and network with other neighborhoods, developers, public agencies, lenders and organization to create new developments, improving existing properties and marketing of our region to interested parties. The Economic Development Committee also spearheaded a Northside Marketing organization called Positive Perceptions that has set its mission at promoting the entire North Minneapolis Community as a great place to work and live. This is occuring through a public relations and media campaign.

Meetings of the Economic Development Committe are at 7:00 pm, on the Second Tuesday of the month. Meetings of Positive Perceptions are on the First Tuesday of the month. Housing

The Housing Committee works on maintaining an attractive housing stock for both home owners and renters. The Committee works with external vendors to make affordable home improvement loans avaiable to Cleveland Neighborhood residents. Additional work is done in keeping the neighborhood's appearance fresh, with its Landscaping Grants. Many residents have completed front yard gardens for all residents to enjoy.

Other North Minneapolis Groups

CAN!

CAN! is the Camden Alliance of Neighborhoods, made up of the 7 neighborhoods north of Lowry Avenue. Meetings are held at 7 pm on the First Wednesday of even months (February, April, etc.). Each neighborhood takes turns hosting the meeting, so check the Complete Calendar for meeting locations. CAN! works to build inter-neighborhood connections to give the Camden area a sense of larger community. to

Fourth Ward CARE Task Force

The Fourth Ward CARE Task Force is hosted by the Folwell Neighborhood that allows for a centralization of neighborhood activites tied to the Crime and Safety Committess. It brings the City Council Member, the Police Department, the neighborhoods and other City representatives together to discuss issues and their resolution.
