Led by Dan Newton on accordion and vocals, the Cafe Accordion Orchestra (CAO) plays a loungy, eclectic mix of music, full of French flare, Latin heat and Bohemian attitude. They inject their performances with good humor and expressive abandon, and their high level of musicianship and passion for performance makes then an entertaining concert act and a great dance band. The CAO has appeared in New York at the Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing series, the International Akkordeon Festival in Vienna, Austria, on A Prairie Home Companion, and at the Winnepeg Folk Festival, the Minnesota State Fair and many other festivals, theaters and dance halls across the United States.

The setting:
Victory Memorial Drive is a beautiful, tree-lined parkway that is one of the nation's largest World War I memorials. Hennepin County and its project partners, along with veterans and community groups, have recently invested more than $6 million in the restoration of this historical place. Concert-goers can visit with members of the Camden Community Historical Society to learn more about the history of the Drive and surrounding neighborhoods.

Sponsors and More:
Live on the Drive is presented by founding partner, North Memorial, with the Cleveland Neighborhood Association, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, North End Hardware, The Lowry Cafe, Washburn McReavy, the Victory, Webber Camden and Folwell Neighborhood Associations, NorthNews and the COMPAS Community Arts Program with funds provided by the McKnight Foundation.

"Concert-goers say it best: 'Live on the Drive is good fun...people enjoying GREAT music and each other.' " said Sue Lundquist, marketing manager for North Memorial. "We're honored to continue this partnership with the community and look forward to enjoying another great summer of music with our Northside neighbors."

Concertgoers are encouraged to save gas and walk or roll to the events.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend all three "Live on the Drive" concerts. For further information, call 612-588-1155 or see www.liveonthedrive.org.
