A huge thank you to the Cleveland Neighborhood Association Youth Committee and the amazing high school students from Patrick Henry High school and Edison High school who put together and pulled off a great family event on Saturday. With there help the kids and parents imagined and created Cars, SUVs, a truck and even a plane (click to see pictures!). It was so great to see the details that they added to their projects. We have an amazing neighborhood and great families and youth.
You won’t want to miss our summer series, Party in the Park, the next big event that the Youth Committee is planning. If you’d like to participate in the planning we’d love your help. Join us this Thursday, April 2nd, at 6:30pm at CNA for the monthly Youth Committee meeting to play an important role in your community and ensuring we have positive activities for youth and families all summer long. We hope to see you there!

We’re Partnering with Free Bikes 4 Kids!

apply_4_bikes2A bike means a lot to a young person and we’re joining up with Free Bikes 4 Kids this year to ensure all the youth in the Cleveland Neighborhood have a chance to have a bike to ride around next summer. We’ll have two upcoming registration opportunities that we invite all families interested in receiving a bike from the bike Give Away to attend.

North First: Education – October 6th, 6pm at the Capri Theater

Come to the event with your child and register for a bike. Stay for dinner and enjoy this great event.

Cleveland Annual Party – October 22nd, 7pm at Lucy Craft Laney School

Join us for our annual party where we share what we’ve accomplished this year and elect new board members. Bring your child, register for a bike, stay for dinner and meet some neighbors!

If you can’t make either of these events, we’ll be posting alternate ways to register shortly. We can’t guarantee a bike, but we can say that last year we registered 100 children for bikes and all who went to the Give Away did receive a bicycle.

Party in the Park – Back to School – August 20th

Final-Party-FlyerJoin us this Wednesday evening for our second Party in the Park event with the theme Healthy Living. We’ll have a custom backpack take-home project for students with Juxtaposition Arts, resource tables from Hennepin Teen and Child Check-ups, Center for Energy and Environment and more. This event is put on by the Cleveland Neighborhood Association’s Youth Committee.

The event is held near our office in the green space between Cleveland Park and Lucy Craft Laney School near Penn and Lowry Avenues north and reaches residents in the Cleveland Neighborhood and surrounding area.

This year we’ve chosen themes for the Party in the Park events. In June we had Summer Fun and Safety, July 16th was Healthy Living, and August 20th we’ll round it out with Back to School themes. We’d love for you to join us at the events as a resident or come as an organization. Come for Dinner, stay for the community!

You Are Invited to 30 Days of Community

30 Days We have a very exciting project we are just about to launch and you get to be the first to hear about it. We are kicking off spring with 30 Days of Community! We’ll be hosting events every day from April 1st to April 30th in a currently vacant storefront at 2205 Lowry Ave (next to the Lowry Cafe). Over that 30 days the space will transform from a movie theater to art gallery, concert space to garden workshop, and any other ideas you come up with. Each event will be hosted by a neighborhood resident, so if you have a great idea you’ve been wanting to do in your community please contact us and we’ll work with you to make it a reality! We have a small budget for each event and will provide each resident with all the support they need to help make it a success. Text or Call 612-567-1262 or email us at cna@clevelandneighborhood.org

This 30 day event will also be the introduction to our Connector Lab, a innovative way of building up community leaders. The Lab will provide 3 residents with mini-grants up to $500 each to create a community project that will better their neighborhood. Lab members will bring together a team to work on and launch their project with the support of the Cleveland Neighborhood Association. Are you ready to turn your community idea into a reality? Contact us! Text or Call 612-567-1262 or email us at cna@clevelandneighborhood.org

Look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions please send us a quick reply email.
