Apply to Step-Up And Work In Your Neighborhood!

In the Cleveland Neighborhood, we want to make sure every young person that is interested in having a job has that opportunity. The Step-Up program is a great opportunity for students ages 14-21 to begin or continue their steps into the job world, build their resume, expand your skills, try new things and, of course, earn a little spending money. We’ll also be looking to hire several students at CNA this summer and would love to have students from the neighborhood. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Sign up for STEP-UP Today!

If there are any teens on your block, please share this opportunity or let us know their address so we can get the word out to them.

Cars, Trucks and Airplanes oh my!

Click to see more photos from the event!

A huge thank you to the Cleveland Neighborhood Association Youth Committee and the amazing high school students from Patrick Henry High school and Edison High school who put together and pulled off a great family event on Saturday. With there help the kids and parents imagined and created Cars, SUVs, a truck and even a plane (click to see pictures!). It was so great to see the details that they added to their projects. We have an amazing neighborhood and great families and youth.
You won’t want to miss our summer series, Party in the Park, the next big event that the Youth Committee is planning. If you’d like to participate in the planning we’d love your help. Join us this Thursday, April 2nd, at 6:30pm at CNA for the monthly Youth Committee meeting to play an important role in your community and ensuring we have positive activities for youth and families all summer long. We hope to see you there!

Save the Date Cleveland Spring Clean May 9th

spring clean bannerSpring is in the air and we want to work together to make Cleveland the beautiful place we all know it to be. Join your friends and neighbors on May 9th for a spring clean and celebration. We’ll meet at the end of our blocks along Lowry Avenue were you’ll receive gloves, pickers and bags from Team Captains. Together we’ll walk the blocks from Lowry to Dowling picking up litter, tidying up and helping make the neighborhood sparkle. We’ll finish with a celebration lunch complete with music and resource tables. It’s going to be a great event and we hope you and your neighbors can make it out to join us. In the spirit of friendly competition, there will be a prize at the end for the street (Penn-Xerxes) with the highest turn out, so invite your neighbors!

We’re in need for Team Captains for each block, so please consider volunteering!

We’re Partnering with Free Bikes 4 Kids!

apply_4_bikes2A bike means a lot to a young person and we’re joining up with Free Bikes 4 Kids this year to ensure all the youth in the Cleveland Neighborhood have a chance to have a bike to ride around next summer. We’ll have two upcoming registration opportunities that we invite all families interested in receiving a bike from the bike Give Away to attend.

North First: Education – October 6th, 6pm at the Capri Theater

Come to the event with your child and register for a bike. Stay for dinner and enjoy this great event.

Cleveland Annual Party – October 22nd, 7pm at Lucy Craft Laney School

Join us for our annual party where we share what we’ve accomplished this year and elect new board members. Bring your child, register for a bike, stay for dinner and meet some neighbors!

If you can’t make either of these events, we’ll be posting alternate ways to register shortly. We can’t guarantee a bike, but we can say that last year we registered 100 children for bikes and all who went to the Give Away did receive a bicycle.
