Conference workshops are organized around four themes:

We’ll be hosting events every day from April 1st to April 30th in a currently vacant storefront at 2205 Lowry Ave (next to the Lowry Cafe). Over that 30 days the space will transform from a movie theater to art gallery, concert space to garden workshop, and any other ideas you come up with. Each event will be hosted by a neighborhood resident, so if you have a great idea you’ve been wanting to do in your community please contact us and we’ll work with you to make it a reality! We have a small budget for each event and will provide each resident with all the support they need to help make it a success. Text or Call 612-567-1262 or email us at cna@clevelandneighborhood.org

This 30 day event will also be the introduction to our Connector Lab, a innovative way of building up community leaders. The Lab will provide 3 residents with mini-grants up to $500 each to create a community project that will better their neighborhood. Our Work Featured in Minneapolis Connects

2014-02-11 07.50.54

Our fun and exciting outreach activities were featured in the City of Minneapolis’ Connects newsletter, both in print and online. Check out the article below:

Neighborhood Stories: Cleveland Neighborhood Association hosts innovative community building events

Last summer the Cleveland Neighborhood Association (CNA) and their neighborhood Step-Up Youth built a mobile Ball Pit, not for kids, but for adults to release their inhibitions, get in and sit down with a neighbor and to get to know one another. The ball pit was not only fun, but contained questions to ask one another, such as “What’s the nicest thing a neighbor has ever done for you?” or “What do you love about your neighborhood?”

2014-02-11 07.51.02In 2014, CNA plans to use the lessons they learned and the inspiration they received from residents to launch a “Connector Lab” project that will support residents in creating innovative community-building projects, train residents to become leaders in their community and work together to make change in the neighborhood.
CNA also hosted roving pop-up block parties throughout the neighborhood, which were inspired the creation of a Neighborhood Engagement Cart and provided an easy way to launch pop-up block parties.

CNA received support for the Ball Pit from a the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Minnesota, support for Neighborhood Engagement Cart from the Pohlad Foundation, and support for the Connector Lab from the Bush Foundation.

Join us to talk about Biking and Bike Lanes on the Northside

Next Monday join us for a discussion: What should Biking look like in your neighborhood? Your larger community? Your city? Your county? Take some time so share your ideas in a meaningful way to help with the revising of a plan for development related to bike and trail plans. Nov 11, 2013, 6:30-7:30pm at the CNA Office. This committee meeting is open to Cleveland residents as well as other northsiders. Here’s the note from the flyer:hcbike discussion

Hennepin County and Three Rivers Park District are revising the county-wide bike and regional trail plan. The plan identifies bike and trail routes, and sets priorities, goals, and
guidelines for bike routes and regional trails. Not a biker? This plan influences how county roads are constructed and funded, so the  results affect all county residents, not just those who bike.

Join the conversation at an upcoming community listening session near you to share your ideas about how to improve bicycling in your neighborhood and throughout the region.
