There are many great organizations out there doing important work and we strongly encourage you to support those that you can. As the weather gets colder, we wanted to highlight one of the great events we put on each summer, Live On The Drive, a free summer concert series for the north Minneapolis community and neighbors each summer for the past seven  years. Help us make 2015 the best summer series ever.

Help Kids Stay Warm This Winter

blizzardDo you have any extra winter coat lying around? How about a drawer full of winter hats and gloves? A scarf you don’t wear?

Lucy Craft Laney School is currently seeking donations to help kids keep warm this winter! Boots, gloves, coats, hats, scarves, snowpants, mittens, ear muffs, and all that other cozy stuff, for students ages 5 to 13 years. Here at Lucy Laney, 98% of the students depend on the free lunch program. This means that when they outgrow their winter coverings, as children do, they are not always financial able to replace it. If you are able and interested in helping our young neighbors by donating new or gently used coats, gloves, etc., please contact Dwquita Nash, Family and Community Liaison at 612-668-2168, Dwquita.nash@mpls.k12.mn.us, or drop off your donations at the main office.

Thank you for helping children in your community stay protected from the elements!

apply_4_bikes2A bike means a lot to a young person and we’re joining up with Free Bikes 4 Kids this year to ensure all the youth in the Cleveland Neighborhood have a chance to have a bike to ride around next summer. We’ll have two upcoming registration opportunities that we invite all families interested in receiving a bike from the bike Give Away to attend.

North First: Education – October 6th, 6pm at the Capri Theater

Come to the event with your child and register for a bike. Stay for dinner and enjoy this great event.

Cleveland Annual Party – October 22nd, 7pm at Lucy Craft Laney School

Join us for our annual party where we share what we’ve accomplished this year and elect new board members. Bring your child, register for a bike, stay for dinner and meet some neighbors!

If you can’t make either of these events, we’ll be posting alternate ways to register shortly. We can’t guarantee a bike, but we can say that last year we registered 100 children for bikes and all who went to the Give Away did receive a bicycle.
