Share a Story about CNA on camera!

ballpit thumbnailWe’d like to think we do pretty good work here at CNA, but it’s not possible without the many great residents in our community that make it happen. This spring we are trying to put together a short video sharing some of the stories about what makes Cleveland Neighborhood a great place to live and CNA a great organization to be a part of. Do you have a story to share about a positive impact the Cleveland Neighborhood Association has had on your block or in your neighborhood or just on you in general? We’d like for you to share that story on camera for our video project. Next Tuesday, April 7th from 2-5pm we will have a student camera crew out interviewing residents and they’d like to interview you!
If you are available for any 30 minutes slot between 2-5pm on April 7th please contact us at 612-588-1155 or email us. Or if you are available a different day please contact us as well. We are looking forward to hearing your stories!

30 Days of Community has begun!

30doclogo-300x202Join us for all sorts of events happening in north Minneapolis throughout the month of April. Lot’s to do, lot’s to be a part of, lot’s of chances to meet your neighbors. Don’t miss out! Check out 30 Days of Community’s website today to see what’s happening this month.

Any questions? Call or text 612-567-1262 or email us.

What exactly is 30 Days of Community?

As Minnesotans, we hibernate for a lot of the winter, spring is our chance to finally get out and enjoy the wonderful community we live in. For the entire month of April, we are highlighting community events throughout the northside of Minneapolis from multiple different organizations and individuals. Some will be during the day, others in the evening, some are 1 hour, others all day. All are opportunities for you to get out and meet some neighbors and enjoy the amazing community you are a part of.

Where will 30 Days of Community take place?

In north Minneapolis specifically, but at many, many different places throughout. There’s a good chance you’ll get to explore some great places you’ve never been and meet some neighbors interested in similar things to you!

How will you share the events taking place?

We’ve created a special website specifically listing all the activities, we’ll promote everything via Facebook, Twitter, our Cleveland Neighborhood website, as well as partners websites and more. But we also believe word of mouth will be our best advertising. Help us spread the word by sharing about the event with your neighbors and friends as well.

Why are you doing 30 Days of Community?

That’s a great question! As a part of a great community we feel it’s important to lift up the many great things happening here and provide opportunities for residents to get to know one another, explore new places, and connect in new ways. We also want to kick off our spring and summer seasons right by encouraging neighbors to get outside and meet one another. And we’re using this opportunity to promote and share about all the wonderful events and activities we have coming up that we don’t want anyone to miss.

Meet Clover: Cleveland’s Newsletter Delivery Dog

dogshirtWhen Clover wandered by the office this winter braving the cold with a Community Engagement survey in his teeth we knew this is just the sort of community-commitment we wanted on our team. Clover’s been in training all winter and now we are proud to announce him as our new Newsletter Delivery Dog! For the price of a few small dog treats, this cute little guy will deliver our newsletter (which launches 30 Days of Community today!) right to your doorstep, saving us time and money and bringing good cheer to the neighborhood. Bridging relationships between neighbors and strengthening blocks is a top priority for us, so what better way than with a cute dog to greet you at your door with your dose of neighborhood news. Keep an eye out for Clover this week!

…April Fools!

Sorry to disappoint you, but until we figure out how to add opposable thumbs to Clover and teach him how to open gates, ring doorbells, and properly navigate the neighborhood, our Delivery Dog idea will have to wait. Hopefully you had a good laugh on this April Fool’s Day though. That being said, we’ve got the next best thing, Real Actual Neighbors will be delivering your Cleveland Newsletter this week! Please greet them with the same kindness and appreciation. And be sure to read about all the great stuff happening this spring including the launch of 30 Days of Community today!

P.S. For some more fun, wander over to your block on Google Maps and play a virtual game of Pac-Man right on your street!

A huge thank you to the Cleveland Neighborhood Association Youth Committee and the amazing high school students from Patrick Henry High school and Edison High school who put together and pulled off a great family event on Saturday. With there help the kids and parents imagined and created Cars, SUVs, a truck and even a plane (click to see pictures!). It was so great to see the details that they added to their projects. We have an amazing neighborhood and great families and youth.
You won’t want to miss our summer series, Party in the Park, the next big event that the Youth Committee is planning. If you’d like to participate in the planning we’d love your help. Join us this Thursday, April 2nd, at 6:30pm at CNA for the monthly Youth Committee meeting to play an important role in your community and ensuring we have positive activities for youth and families all summer long. We hope to see you there!
