We’re less then a week away from Open Streets on Lowry Avenue. There will be a LOT happening all along the corridor from noon to 6pm and we don’t want you to miss out. See the map for many of the details, but there is plenty more that isn’t even listed.

We’d love for you to stop by our Community Garden at Vincent and Lowry and participate in creating our community mosaic sign for the garden. This will be a hands-on community activity to create our new garden sign for the Cleveland Community Garden. You’ll have a chance to meet Eric, our new GreenCorps Member, who will be working with residents in the garden over the next year.

Also be sure to stop by our activities between Russell and Queen on Lowry where we’ll have the Mobile Ballpit, our Engagement Cart, and lots of other fun activities for the whole family. We hope to see you there!

Consider Joining the Cleveland Neighborhood Association Board

2015 Annual Camden News AdOur most recent newsletter should be popping up on your door handle in the next few days and it’s a great chance to see the amazing work we are doing to make the Cleveland Neighborhood live up to it’s motto, “Small Neighborhood, Big Heart”. That work is only made possible thanks to the dedicated involvement of residents like you on our committees and board. The Cleveland Neighborhood Board is a great opportunity to get involved and play an active role in deciding what happens in your community and helping ensure all residents are being served.

If you’ve ever thought about wanting to be more involved but haven’t really thought about exactly how, give us a call, 612-588-1155 and we’ll be happy to sit down with you over a cup of coffee or hot chocolate (our treat!) and learn more about you and share what opportunities there are to be involved in the coming year.

If you are ready to take the plunge why not click the link to learn more about Joining the Board and fill out the form. Board elections will be held at our Annual Party on October 20th. We look forward to seeing you there!

Get Involved in Events or Community Development in Cleveland

Community Conversations
Get involved in a committee and help make events happen!

Committees are a great way to take an active role in your neighborhood and make sure the things we are doing are reflective of your interest and priorities. Two committee meetings coming up that you might want to get involved in our Events and Community Development.

Tonight at 6:30pm at the CNA Office our Events Committee will be debriefing our very successful Live on the Drive summer concert series. We’ll be discussing plans for the upcoming Annual Party and we’ll prepare for the Northside Housing Fair which we’ll be relaunching in March of 2016. Join us for a productive one hour gathering to get involved in making these great events happen.

On Monday, Sept 14th at 6:30pm you can join the Community Development Committee as it discusses the housing fair, our home repair loan program, Community Solar and the launch of a resident-led “Curb Appeal Award” (more details below)

Great opportunities to connect with your neighbors and get involved in your committee. Can’t come out this week but want to get email updates for those committees so you can stay connected in the future? Take two seconds and fill out our Connection form and we’ll add you to the update lists!

Open Streets on Lowry: See You September 26th

openstreetsposter

For the fourth year in a row, Open Streets/Harvest Fest will return to Lowry Avenue, bringing with it a day of fun-filled activities along the nearly two-mile section of street.
The day-long event, which will take place on Saturday, September 26 from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m., will create a safe, car-free environment on one of North Minneapolis’ most heavily used streets. The event is designed to allow people to play, be physically active and take part in a wide range of related activities. It will stretch from Vincent Avenue to Emerson Avenue.

Four years ago, Open Streets combined with Harvest Fest, which was originally created to celebrate the reopening of the Lowry corridor in North Minneapolis. This free event is open to everyone and are organized to give people the opportunity to safely enjoy biking, walking, skating, playing and using wheelchairs on their neighborhood street without the presence of motorized traffic.
